All cadets have the opportunity to continue their cadet training into the summer by applying to summer courses. These courses range in a variety of disciplines, lengths of times and locations. Courses are delivered at Cadet Training Centres (CTC) throughout the country, although most of our cadets will go to CFB Borden's CTC Blackdown, CFB Trenton's CTC Trenton, or some out of Region opportunities like CTC Rocky Mountain or CTC Vernon.
Summer training has two objectives:
The first is to train cadets to meet the needs of the corps.
The second is for the cadet to learn new skills, meet new people and enjoy their cadet experience.
All are encouraged to apply, but since all summer training slots are competed for, unfortunately not all will be accepted. Attendance and Corps performance are key factors in determining summer acceptance.
Expeditions develop knowledge on how to travel long distances in various environments. Army cadets also learn how to take care of their field equipment.
