Training takes place Wednesday Parade nights at Bramalea Secondary School. Arrive NLT 1800hrs. You will need time to get signed in for attendance and get formed up for the opening parade. Schedule your pickup from cadets for 2100hrs.
Bring the following with you when you attend any corps event:
Valid Health Card, in case of an emergency;
Notebook or binder with paper, pen, and pencil for note-taking (backpack or briefcase optional)
Water bottle
Cadets are loaned two uniforms which must be returned when they leave the program. New uniforms could take several months to arrive, but all cadets should receive theirs before the end of their first training year.
A Dress Uniform
Field Training Uniform (FTU)
Until you receive your uniforms, wear the following when attending Training Nights:
Clean, white, long-sleeve, collared dress shirt, which is to be free of wrinkles, have all cuffs and buttons done up, and be neatly tucked in to the pants
A black tie with a Windsor or Half-Windsor knot
Clean, black trousers (not jeans or leggings) which are free of wrinkles, and which may be worn with a black belt
Clean, black footwear (preferably dress shoes), worn with black or grey socks
Check the CJCR Dress Regulations for the basic standards regarding hairstyles,
facial hair, jewellery, nails, and makeup.
Cadets are advised against bringing electronics and valuables. Cell phones may be necessary at times, but they should be turned off and out of sight when not absolutely needed. 557 is not responsible for lost or stolen valuables.
Communications are the responsibility of the cadet. The corps will share announcements during Parade Nights as well as a weekly message to the Cadet. As we are building responsible young adults, the majority of routine communications will come to the cadet directly and communications to parents will be directed as required.
For most questions and issues, cadets should start by speaking to your immediate supervisor (this is called the Chain of Command). If they cannot provide an answer, speak to the person in the next highest position. As a new cadet, your immediate supervisors are the senior cadets who instruct your classes, followed by the Green Star Officer.
