The 557 Lorne Scots Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps was founded in 1973 to offer young Canadians the opportunity to develop leadership, citizenship, discipline, and adventure through a dynamic youth program. Over the years, 557 RCACC has grown into a proud community institution in the Brampton area, welcoming youth aged 12–18 to engage in weekly training nights, field exercises, community service, marksmanship, expedition and band opportunities.
As an affiliated corps of the Lorne Scots (Peel, Dufferin and Halton Regiment), 557 aligns with a rich military and community tradition. The Lorne Scots trace their lineage back to the mid-19th century, and today serve as an infantry reserve regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces. Their motto “Air son ar Dùthchas” (For our heritage) reflects a deep dedication to service, community and country.
By carrying the Lorne Scots name and traditions, 557 RCACC draws on that legacy of discipline, leadership and community commitment. This affiliation gives our cadets access to regimental traditions, ceremonies, mentorship, and the spirit of being part of a broader regimental family.
